For cheap chic and tasty tapas, you can't beat Colosso. Inside, this little neighborhood hangout has gold-painted stucco walls and the music (usually rock) is loud. In summer, if the music is too much for you, you can sit at a table out on the sidewalk. There are several excellent Spanish Rioja wines available by the glass, and cocktails made with fresh-squeezed juice. The varied selection of tapas includes baked Spanish omelets, seared eggplant with tomatoes and goat cheese in a pomegranate glaze, grilled calamari in garlic and red-wine vinegar, and grilled prawns in salsa verde. As far as we can tell, this is a dud-free menu. Hip waiters provide surprisingly attentive service.
Tapas and plates $2.50-$12.Open: Daily 5pm-midnight or later.Reservations not accepted.Credit Cards: DISC, MC, V.
