Located in a mock cow town favored by families with small children, this restaurant, with its bold paint job and halogen lighting, lures a fairly sophisticated and adult crowd. Start your meal out on the patio with fruity apricot iced tea (very refreshing on a hot day) and tempura coconut shrimp with chutney marmalade. The grilled Ahi tuna sandwich with herbed aioli and pickled ginger is tasty and well textured and comes with a generous side of pasta salad. For dinner, we like the grilled lamb sauced with prickly pear and port wine. The food here is hearty yet inventive enough to try on a regular basis, and vegetarians will find many meatless choices. Reasonable prices and a comfortable atmosphere add up to a good value.
Main courses $6-$10 at lunch, $9-$18 at dinner.
Open: Mon-Thurs 11am-9pm, Fri-Sat 11am-10pm.
Reservations recommended on weekends, especially for the patio.
