Located in the upscale St. Philip's Plaza shopping center, Café Terra Cotta is Arizona's original Southwestern restaurant, and for many years, one of Tucson's most highly acclaimed. The combination of a casual atmosphere and creative cooking appeals to trendy Tucsonans, who stop by for dinner or to pick up gourmet food to go. A large brick oven is used to make imaginative pizzas, while salads, sandwiches, small plates, and main dishes flesh out the long menu. With so many choices, it's often difficult to decide, but we can recommend the grilled eggplant and portobello sandwich with red bell peppers, basil, and goat cheese on focaccia and the pork tenderloin adobado (spicy red sauce) with apricot-chile conserve. For dessert, the chocolate mousse pie requires a Herculean effort to resist.
Main courses $12-$22.
Open: Sun-Thurs 11am-9:30pm, Fri-Sat 11am-10:30pm.
Reservations recommended.
