Sweet, small, and always packed, Doidge's has served one of the better breakfasts in San Francisco since 1971. The restaurant's fame rests on eggs Benedict; eggs Florentine, prepared with thinly sliced Motherlode ham, runs a close second. Invariably, the menu includes a gourmet omelet packed with luscious combinations; to delight the kid in you, hot chocolate comes in your very own teapot. Lunch also puts a gourmet spin on such favorites as Cobb salad, a lean ground chuck burger, and the good ol' BLT. Locals covet the six seats at the original mahogany counter.
Breakfast $6-$10; lunch $5.25-$10.
Open: Mon-Thurs 8am-12:30pm; Fri 8am-1:30; Sat-Sun 8am-2:30pm.
Reservations essential on weekends.
