This cozy trattoria is one of the better bets in Fisherman's Wharf. Two walls of sliding glass doors offer pseudo-sidewalk seating when the weather's warm, although heavy vehicular traffic can detract from the alfresco experience. All the classics are well represented here: crisp Caesar salad, fried calamari, bruschetta, cioppino, pastas, chicken marsala, and veal medallions with mushrooms, caramelized onions, sage, and veal sauce. The consensus is to order anything that's cooked in the open kitchen's wood-fired oven, such as pizzas (margarita) or roasts (sea bass with pinenut crust, sundried tomato pesto, and roasted veggies), or panino (lunch only; grilled chicken or grilled eggplant.
Main courses $4-$9 breakfast, $8.50-$16.50 lunch and dinner.
Open: Sun-Thurs 7am-10pm; Fri-Sat 7am-11pm; Sat-Sun 7am-3pm brunch, 3-5pm cafe menu.
Reservations recommended.
Credit Cards: AE, DC, DISC, MC, V.
Cable car: Powell-Mason line. Bus: 15, 39, or 42.
