Seafood
Price Category: Expensive

The Sabella family has been serving seafood in San Francisco since the turn of the century and has operated A. Sabella's restaurant on the wharf continuously since 1920, catering heavily to the tourist trade. The menu offers something for everyone--steak, lamb, seafood, chicken, and pasta, all made from scratch with fresh local ingredients. Where A. Sabella's really shines, however, is in the shellfish department. Its 1,000-gallon saltwater tank allows for fresh crab, abalone, and lobster year-round, which means no restaurant in the city can touch A. Sabella's when it comes to feasting on fresh Dungeness crab and abalone out of season. Of course, such luxuries are anything but cheap. An added bonus: The restaurant overlooks the wharf.

Main courses $12-$47. Open: Daily 11am-10:30pm. Reservations recommended. Credit Cards: AE, CB, DC, DISC, MC, V. Cable car: Powell-Mason line. 2-hr. validated parking at the Wharf Garage, 350 Beach St.
