If you're headed to the theater or are just looking for a good meal and cheery atmosphere downtown, Brasserie Savoy is an excellent option. The atmosphere is French bistro, with a bright, busy dining room and black-and-white marble floors. The food is consistent, affordable, and delicious. Among the appetizers, preferred choices are oysters with champagne sauce, leeks, and Osetra caviar; mussels marinière with shallots, muscadet, and parsley; and freshly made salad. Main-course choices might include bouillabaisse with local seafood and roasted bread, grilled salmon and halibut with veggies and dry vermouth sauce, or grilled rib-eye with pommes frites, watercress, and bordelaise sauce. To finish, try the innovative crème brûlée.

Main courses $16-$22. Open: Daily 7am-10:30pm, Tues-Sun 5:30-10pm. Reservations recommended. Credit Cards: AE, CB, DC, DISC, MC, V. Bus: 2, 3, 4, 27, or 38.
