This resort, built in 1979 on 12 acres of land near the airport, is the largest time-share facility on St. Maarten, and the staff appears at times more interested in hawking these properties than in running a hotel. Nevertheless, it's a good value, with lots of amenities, and it's a good backup choice if the other resorts are full. Although many of the suites are leased for predesignated periods throughout the year, others are rented by the on-site managers as they become available. Accommodations, which contain ceiling fans, shower-only bathrooms, and full kitchens, are arranged into village-style clusters separated from other units by lattices, hibiscus hedges, and bougainvillea. Each unit is fairly spacious, equipped with straightforward furnishings and comfortable king or double beds; most units have patios or verandas, and some have hair dryers. Scattered around the property are a lily pond, many small waterways, and an orchid garden, not to mention the beachfront.
