American Cathedral of the Holy Trinity

Because of the crush of wannabes who scheme, maneuver, and manipulate their way into the bar of this ultraprestigious hotel, there's absolutely no guarantee that you'll get in, so make sure you have an alternative plan. Should you get inside, you'll find a street-level location of rich-looking paneling, high tables, barrel-shaped armchairs, glossy bartops, and the kind of lighting that makes almost anyone look fabulous. Chat here can get bitchy, and it's anyone's guess how rich the soigné and pampered crowd really is. Be prepared for theme cocktails that in many cases are too pink, too cloying, and certainly too expensive.
