NIGHTLIFE: GAY & LESBIAN BARS
Banana Café
This popular bar is a stop for gays visiting or doing business in Paris. Occupying two floors of a 19th-century building, it has walls the color of an overripe banana, dim lighting, and a policy of raising the drink prices after 10pm, when things become really interesting. There's a street-level bar and a cellar dance floor that features a live pianist and recorded music -- sometimes with dancing. On many nights, go-go dancers perform from spotlit platforms in the cellar.
