This casual restaurant, occupying the ground floor of a modern gray building, caters largely to students from nearby Kyoto University. The English-speaking chef offers a variety of interesting pastas, pizzas, and main dishes on the English menu, including crab spaghetti, trout cooked in olive oil, chicken Kiev, and roast wild duck with vegetables; if you don't see what you want, you can make a request and the chef will try to accomodate.

Open: Fri-Wed noon-3pm and 5pm-1am.

Bus: 206 to Kumano-jinja-mae (10 min.). Located straight north of Heian Shrine, not far from Kyoto Handicraft Center. Walk north from Marutamachi Dori on the road nearest the pedestrian overpass for about 3 min.; the restaurant is on the right.
