One of Vallarta's first galleries, the Galería Uno features an excellent selection of contemporary paintings by Latin American artists, plus a variety of posters and prints. During the high season, featured exhibitions change every 2 weeks. In a classic adobe building with open courtyard, it's also a casual, salón-style gathering place for friends of owner Jan Lavender. Open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 9pm. A branch, Arte de las Américas (tel. 322/221-1985), is at Marina Vallarta between La Taberna and the Yacht Club. It exhibits some of the same artists but has a decidedly more abstract orientation. It's open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm and 5 to 9pm.
