Formerly Vynyl, this big open room, located on a Hollywood side street in the former home of a divey rock 'n' roll club, has theatrical--almost gothic--overtones. A trendy dance club with DJs (including occasional big name guests) spinning house and electronica, they also feature concerts by local and visiting bands that range from jazz to glam to contemporary. There's an elevated stage above the dance floor for people watching or checking out the go-go dancers in action. Though the crowd naturally varies according to what's on the night's schedule, it's a bit more upscale than trashy, with a look-like-you-mean-it dress code.
