Kansas City Barbecue's honky-tonk mystique was fueled by its appearance as the fly-boy hangout in the movie Top Gun ("one of our better business decisions," reflects the understated owner). Posters from the film share wall space with county-fair memorabilia, old Kansas car tags, and a photograph of official "bar wench" Carry Nation. This homey dive is right next to the railroad tracks and across from the tony Hyatt Regency. The spicy barbecue ribs, chicken, and hot links are slow-cooked over an open fire and served with sliced white bread and your choice of coleslaw, beans, fries, onion rings, potato salad, or corn on the cob. The food is okay, but the atmosphere is the real draw.
Main courses $7-$12.Open: Daily 11am-1am.Reservations not accepted.Credit Cards: MC, V.Trolley: Seaport Village.
