Altamonte Mall

As surely as Disney brought new life to Orlando, this mall and I-4 brought new life (and a ton of traffic) to the then-one stoplight town of Altamonte Springs, north of Orlando. Built in the early 1970s, it got a major renovation in 1989. It's the second largest mall in the area behind the Florida Mall , but it's well north of the tourist mainstream. Its tenants include Burdines, JCPenney, Sears, and 175 specialty shops.

451 E. Altamonte Dr, Phone: 407/830-4422.From I-4 go 15 miles north of the downtown to Exit 92, Hwy. 436/Semoran Blvd., and go east about a 1/2 mile.
