Doc Chey's Noodle House
1424 N. Highland Ave
(At University Dr)
tel.: 404/888-0777
Location: At University Dr
Cuisine: Asian/Pac Rim
Price Category: Inexpensive

This may not be the most authentic noodle house in the city, but it's a neighborhood standby that won't let you down if you're looking for a good, inexpensive meal. It's kid-friendly, too, and offers two children's meals (Chinese chicken soup or chicken, carrots, and broccoli over rice) that should please finicky little eaters. The rest of us have a lot to choose from: fragrant basil rolls, Chinese scallion pancakes, soup bowls, noodle bowls, rice bowls and salads, each with a Thai, Chinese, Japanese, or Vietnamese accent. You can ask for most of them to be prepared vegetarian style. The decor is nothing fancy, but the patio's large and pleasant, the Asian beer is cold, and at these prices, there's not much to complain about.

There's another Doc Chey's in Emory Village near Emory University, 1556 N. Decatur Rd. (tel. 404/378-8188). The hours are slightly different.

Main dishes $4-$8.Open: Mon 5:30am-10pm; Sun and Tues-Thurs 11:30am-10pm; Fri-Sat 11am-11pm.Credit Cards: AE, DISC, MC, V.MARTA: North Ave.
