Location, location, location! This Outrigger is right on Waikiki Beach, across from Ft. DeRussy, with beautifully appointed rooms, excellent service, and a myriad of activities, shops, and restaurants. This is a big hotel with three towers (5, 10, and 17 floors each) and a megalobby connecting them. Off the lobby is an enormous swimming pool, with some 300 chaise longues surrounding it, three whirlpool spas, and food and cocktail service within hailing distance. Throughout the lobby are enough shops to qualify as a minishopping mall. And, of course, beautiful Waikiki Beach is in the backyard.

The rooms have the usual well-designed, well-appointed Outrigger furnishings and decorations with great views and plenty of extra room to have a couple of kids bedding down. Rooms include refrigerators, blackout drapes, coffeemakers, safes, and irons and ironing boards. Coin-operated laundry facilities are available, as is a hospitality room for early check-ins or late checkouts. Nonsmoking and handicapped-accessible rooms are also available.

Dining/Diversions: At poolside is the Chiefs Hut for casual, family dining for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. At oceanside youll find The Shorebird Beach Broiler, an immensely popular spot offering buffet breakfasts and broil-your-own dinners. The Shorebird Prime Rib & Pasta Company is open for dinner only. The Aloha Lobby features Hawaiian entertainment. The Shorebird Beach Bar also has live entertainment, and the Pool Terrace is a poolside sports bar with a big-screen TV.

Amenities: Many beach services, including catamaran sailing, canoe rides, and surfboard lessons; room service; fitness center; and concierge desk. It also offers one of the largest freshwater swimming pools in Waikiki and a business center with state-of-the-art equipment and the assistance of a full-time secretary.
