The Pacific Beach has a unique feature, unmatched by any hotel in Hawaii: a three-story, 280,000-gallon indoor oceanarium with more than 70 different species, ranging from the 2-inch cleaner wrasse to the 4-foot Hawaiian stingray. Some 52-feet long and 32-feet wide, this oversized aquarium is the focal point of the hotel, and can be seen from the lobby and several restaurants. Check it out even if you dont stay here. The fish are fed six times a day.
The hotel consists of two towers: the Beach Tower, built in 1969, and the Ocean-arium Tower, built in 1979. The front desk to this complex is located off the entrance on Liliuokalani Street, right by the giant oceanarium. Every room has a lanai, full bathroom with tub and shower, refrigerator, and coffeemaker. Nonsmoking rooms are available. You can get a room with a city, mountain, or ocean view. The oceanview rooms increase in price with each ascending floor. The deluxe oceanview rooms begin on the 10th floor (worth the extra money for the panoramic views).
Dining/Diversions: The hotel has three restaurants and lounges: the Oceanarium Restaurant for casual, family dining; Neptune, for continental fare; and Shogun, a Japanese steak and seafood restaurant with sushi bar.
