This is two restaurants in one. (No, it was not named after Salvador Dalí; the name is a combination of the owner's boyfriend's name, Dan, and her own name, Liz.) When owner Elizabeth Foley first opened this popular deli in 1997, it was mobbed. People came mainly for the fresh, healthy, gourmet food (the portobello mushroom sandwich is not to be missed), the scrumptious breakfasts, and the very tempting bakery items. Still, her fans clamored for more, so in 2001, Liz opened the Café Cara (named after her daughter) for authentic Italian dinners in the evenings. Oh, mamma mia, don't miss the bruschette antipasti, rugola salad, risotto porcini, or cannelloni di giorni. Bring your own wine.
Breakfast under $8, lunch under $10, dinner $12-$18.Open: Mon-Sat. 8am-3pm; Tues-Sat 5:30-9pm.Credit Cards: MC, V.
