Alyse Matlak opened Clubhouse next door to Chicago's premier rock venue, Metro, in 1993 -- but back then it sold only pop-culture merchandise such as T-shirts and patches. Matlak still carries that stuff, but the store has since added an inventory of ska and punk records, CDs, and tapes. Almost the entire selection is new music, much of it of the underground variety.
