How do I love Bubby's? Let me count the ways. I love Bubby's for the sublime macaroni and cheese, for the divine garlic burger and fries (accompanied by Bubby's own "wup-ass" ketchup), for the homemade meat loaf with warm cider gravy and garlic mashies -- better than Ma used to make. I love Bubby's generous portions and fresh-from-the-field greens. I love Bubby's big home-style breakfasts. I also love Bubby's coziness: The high-ceilinged, brick-walled loftlike space is very homey -- very TriBeCa -- and I love the candlelight that adds a touch of romance to the evening. I love the friendly waitstaff that doesn't neglect me, even when Harvey Keitel is sitting two tables over. Best of all, I love Bubby's pies: the core of Bubby's business, baked fresh daily, a half dozen to choose from (along with another half dozen homemade cakes), and topped with fresh-made whipped cream. (Pumpkin's my favorite.) Yum, yum, Bubby!
