B.B. King Blues Club & Grill

This snazzy 550-seat venue is one of the prime anchors of Times Square's "new" 42nd Street. Despite its name, B.B. King's seldom sticks to the blues; instead, what you're likely to find is a bill full of familiar pop, funk, and rock names, mainly from the past. The big-ticket talent runs the gamut from the George Clinton and the P. Funk All Stars, and Nile Rodgers and Chic (cool!) to Tower of Power to Dream Theater and the Afro-Cuban All Stars. A few more (relatively) esoteric acts take the stage on occasion, such as Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson and surf guitarist Dick Dale. Tourist-targeted pricing place makes for a very expensive night on the town, word is that the food isn't as good as it was in the beginning, and seating policies can be terribly convoluted, but there's no arguing with the quality of the talent. The Sunday gospel lunch is a genuine slice of joy.
