The moment you step through the door here, enticing aromas greet you-the scent of salmon teriyaki, perhaps, or the delicate aroma of tempura. The fact that this restaurant is popular with Japanese businessmen is recommendation enough for Bush Garden. Groups, and anyone seeking privacy and a special experience, can dine in one of the tatami rooms with the shoji rice-paper-screen walls. If you can't sit cross-legged through dinner, don't worry, beneath the low tables are wells that allow you to sit as you are accustomed. If there are two or more of you, you should definitely opt for one of the special dinners. Shabu-shabu is our favorite; you get to do the cooking yourself. For the ultimate Japanese banquet, order the kaiseki dinner, which includes two appetizers, sushi or sashimi, tempura, fish, beef, and dessert.

Main dishes $11.50-$23; lunches $7-$11; sushi bar $2.50-$9. Open: Mon-Fri 11:30am-1:45pm; Mon-Sat 5-9:45pm, Sun 5-8:45pm. Reservations recommended. Credit Cards: AE, CB, DC, DISC, JCB, MC, V.
