Portland's oldest restaurant first opened its doors to the public in 1879, though it didn't move to its present location until 1911. You'll find this very traditional establishment tucked inside the Oregon Pioneer Building. Down a quiet hallway you'll come to a surprising little room with a vaulted stained-glass ceiling, Philippine mahogany paneling, and the original brass cash register. The house specialty has been turkey since the day the first Huber's opened, so there really isn't any question of what to order. You can gobble turkey Parmesan, turkey enchiladas, turkey mushroom pie, or just plain roast turkey. The menu even has wine recommendations to accompany the different turkey dishes. Lunch prices are much lower, with the turkey sandwich the star of the hour. We also love to come here for another house specialty, Spanish coffees flamed tableside.
Main dishes lunch $5.50-$11, dinner $8-$19.
Open: Mon-Fri 11:30am-4pm, Sat noon-4pm; Mon-Thurs 4-10pm, Fri-Sat 4-11pm.
Reservations recommended.
