At an atmospheric old house in Northwest Portland, Briggs and Crampton Caterers puts on a special lunch for two people only (make reservations well in advance). This pampering experience, which occurs in a screened-off area in the front parlor, begins with an appetizer, followed by a sorbet, breads, the main course with side dishes, dessert, and coffee. Dishes are influenced by whatever is in season, be it a certain type of fish, morel mushrooms, or fresh berries, or by the preferences of those dining. The chef doubles as the waiter, so attention is concentrated on your special needs and desires. The wine list has some fine selections, but wine is not included in the price, nor is the gratuity. Reservations are taken quarterly, in January, April, July, and October.
4-course lunch for 2 people $75.
