It's immediately obvious both from the hip decor and the menu that this isn't Taco Bell. While a squash enchilada with peanut sauce (spicy and sweet with mushrooms, apples, jicama, and sunflower seeds) sounds weird, it actually tastes great. Don't worry, though, there's plenty of traditional fare on the menu too (and at traditional cheap prices, too). Because the restaurant doesn't take reservations, it's a good idea to get here early, before the line starts snaking out the door. This is a family-friendly place, so don't hesitate to bring the kids. There's also a Chez José West, 8502 SW Terwilliger Blvd. (503/244-0007).
