Il Piatto is a small neighborhood restaurant with a romantic atmosphere. Antiqued walls, dried flowers, and overstuffed chairs in the lounge area provide a comfortable place for sipping a glass of good Italian wine while waiting for your table. Start your meal with oven-dried tomato pesto that you spread on crusty bread. The pastas are wonderful, especially risotto al pollo, which is arborio rice cooked in red wine with grilled chicken, smoked pears, Gorgonzola cheese, and fresh basil; or lasagna layered with roasted eggplant and yams with a pine nut crust. The marinated rabbit also gets rave reviews. Italian desserts such as tiramisu made with cornmeal cake are all made here in the kitchen by the pastry chef.
Main courses lunch $7-$14, dinner $10-$17.
Open: Tues-Fri 11:30am- 2pm; Sun-Thurs 5:30-9:30pm, Fri-Sat 5:30-10:30pm. In summer Sun-Thurs 5:30-10pm, Fri-Sat 5:30-11pm.
Reservations highly recommended Thurs-Sat.
