With red-eyed cow skulls on the walls and marionettes, model planes, and stuffed iguanas and armadillos hanging from the ceiling, the decor here can only be described as Tex-eclectic, an epithet that is equally appropriate when applied to the menu. Sure there are enchiladas and tamales and tacos, but they might be filled with ostrich, buffalo meat, or smoked salmon. Rest assured you can also get standard ingredients such as chicken and beef. Main courses come with some of the best rice and beans I've ever had, and if you want your meal hotter, they'll toss you a couple of jalapeño peppers. The nopalitos (fried cactus) are worth a try, and the margaritas just might be the best in Portland. While you're waiting for a seat (there's almost always await), check out the vintage tunes on the jukebox.
