Confitería Torres is recommended more for the turn-of-the-century ambience than for the food. Once you spy the mirrors fogged black around the edges and droopy chairs, you'll know that this is indeed Santiago's oldest restaurant. Old-timers will rave about the cuisine, but really it's just the same old mix-and-match menu of fries and pan-cooked meat and fish -- not bad, but not necessarily exciting, either. Drop in for a look if you're in the neighborhood.
