Some call the popular El Huerto the best vegetarian restaurant in Santiago, and with reason: The chefs whip up creative, appetizing dishes, from burritos to pasta to Chinese stir-fries. Add one of their fresh apple, raspberry, or peach juices, and it makes for a wonderful meal. Prices have risen slightly recently, and the owners have opened up a more economical cafe, La Huerta, next door (at the left), with a limited but good menu and fixed-price lunch. The softly lit, mellow dining room of El Huerto is a cool place to relax on a summer day.
