Chiang Mai's newest and best highrise hotel is isolated across the river just south of town. The attractive lobby is both spacious and welcoming, and the staff is friendly and well-trained. The rooms are large and plush with subdued colors and attractive teak furnishings, each with a view. The River Terrace Restaurant serves the best buffet lunch in Chiang Mai, a particularly good bargain at 200B ($8). Dining/Diversions: Besides the remarkably good River Terrace, there is the Castana, which serves Mediterranean cuisine, the China Palace (with chefs from Hong Kong), and a Japanese restaurant. The lobby Vienna Lounge offers a touch of Old World elegance with live music, and the Stars nightclub features a Hollywood theme.
Amenities: 24-hour room service, tour desk, complimentary shuttle to and from airport, voice mail. Business center, swimming pool, fitness center, beauty salon.
