It's just a few short blocks up the shop-lined Via Banchi di Sopra (its name changes to Via Montanini) to this 15th-century palazzo. Most rooms are plain but large, though the decor is livened up in some rooms with old-fashioned bevel-glass mirrors in the wardrobe doors or an antique chest of drawers. A few are quite pleasant indeed, with painted wrought-iron bed frames in a 19th-century country style and worn terra-cotta floors or medieval stone-work walls. The baths are very compact, with amusing anachronisms--they've installed heated towel racks but haven't yet been hit with the fuzzy towel revolution. The beds are mercifully firm, and while there's some moped and chatter noise outside most windows, it usually disappears by bedtime.
