At this elegant, award-winning restaurant, the chefs make everything from scratch, using the freshest herbs and vegetables available--preparing the tomato sauce alone requires cases of roma tomatoes each day. Located in a century-old building at the top of Main Street, Grappa's decor makes it feel like a Tuscan farmhouse. The restaurant has three floors, with a small patio on the ground floor and a larger second-floor deck with a delightful view of historic Main Street and the surrounding mountains. Baskets of fresh fruits and vegetables decorate the dining areas.
Popular dishes include grilled chicken and spinach lasagna, pan-seared lamb chops stuffed with sausage and spinach, and open-spit-roasted guinea fowl. The meats and fowl are seasoned in the style of southern French and Italian cooking, then grilled or rotisseried over a wood-burning flame. There's an excellent wine list, as well as full liquor service.
Main courses $6-$28.
