Nightlife: The Club & Music Scene Frommer

Live Music--In addition to the venues listed, see Bar Rumba, Cargo, The Cross, Cuba, Electric Ballroom, The End, Equinox, Fabric, Notting Hill Art Club, Salsa, and Smollensky's on the Strand (all are dance clubs with live music); and American Bar, Bad Bobs Bar & Restaurant, and The Phoenix Artist Club(coctail lounges).

Dance Clubs--It's the nature of dance clubs to come and go with alarming speed, or to shift violently from one trend to another. Time Out (available on newsstands in the U.S. and in London) is the best way to keep up.

Nearly all the clubs cater to a crowd in its 20s and early 30s, with an almost equal mixture of locals and visitors. These clubs hit their groove around 1 to 2am.

In addition to those clubs listed, check out Cecil Sharpe House (for folk dancing), Sound, and Ronnie's Scott's Jazz Club (live music venues),;and The Edge, G.A.Y., and Heaven (gay clubs).
