Portland's compactness makes it an ideal city to explore on foot. There's no better way to gain a feel for this city than to stroll through the Skidmore Historic District, down along Tom McCall Waterfront Park, and through Pioneer Courthouse Square. If you're here on the weekend, you'll also be able to visit the Portland Saturday Market.
You're never far from an outdoor sculpture or fountain in downtown Portland, and these public works of art are as much a part of the local art scene as anything in a gallery or museum. Our second walking tour outlines a route that will take you past some of the best outdoor art the city has to offer. Keep your eyes peeled for other works of art not mentioned in this walking tour.
If you're up for a long walk, these two tours can be linked together into one extended walk around downtown.
