You can try the courts at most of the large resorts, but you must call first for a reservation. Preference, of course, is given to hotel guests.

On the Dutch side, there are 3 lit courts at The Pelican, Simpson Bay (tel. 599/54-42503); another 3 lit courts at the Divi Little Bay Beach Resort, (only hotel guests can play here) Little Bay Road (tel. 599/54-22333); and yet another 3 at the Maho Beach Hotel, Maho Bay (tel. 599/54-52115). The Pelican allows nonguests to play the courts if they are staying at neighboring resorts or if a guest invites them to play. Maho Beach charges $15 for non-guests in season or $10 from April 21 to Dec. 19; guests pay $9. In the off season, guests pay nothing.

On the French side, the Privilège Resort & Spa, Anse Marcel (tel. 590/87-38-38), offers four lit tennis courts and two squash courts; the Hotel Mont Vernon, Baie Orientale (tel. 590/87-62-00), has two courts; and the Nettlé Bay Beach Club, Baie Nettlé (tel. 590/87-68-68), has three lit Laykold courts.
