Trekking Routes: The Langtang Valley Frommer
Due primarily to the crowds on the Everest and Annapurna treks, this trek has been gaining in popularity in the past few years. You certainly won't see as many other trekkers here, but likewise the accommodations are fewer, farther apart, and less comfortable. There are few teahouses between villages, which means you frequently will have to hike for 3 hours to reach the next village that has food and accommodations. However, the things that make this trek appealing are its long stretches of undisturbed forest where birds are plentiful; high-altitude meadows where you may see wild sheep; excellent mountain views; and Tibetan-like culture. If you bring along a tent, a stove, and food, you can even strike out on your own and do a bit of exploring at the upper end of the Langtang Valley, which is only a few miles from Tibet.

Syabrubensi, 2 hours beyond Dhunche on the road, is becoming an increasingly popular spot from which to start this trek, due in large part to the easy trail you can follow up the Langtang Khola at the start of the trek. However, because this option requires more time on a bus and bypasses the attractive village of Syabru, I don't recommend it.
