Mountain Biking Down from Nagarkot: With its abundance of trails and dirt roads, Nepal is an ideal place to go mountain biking. However, with a landscape that is anything but flat, pedaling here often takes a lot of stamina. This ride, however, is all downhill. There are mountain views at the top and temples at the bottom.
White water Rafting: All those mountains, all that snow melt. There must be great white water rafting here. There is, and "great" doesn't quite describe it. Class IV and V whitewater abounds, and rafting trips can be as long as 10 days. Sure, there are shorter trips and less-demanding rapids, but Nepal really isn't the place for beginners.
Hot-Air Ballooning over the Kathmandu Valley: There are excellent views of the Himalayas from the Kathmandu Valley, and those views are even better from a hot-air balloon 3,000 feet above the valley floor. The views of the valley itself are fascinating as well.
Bird Watching: With more than 800 species of birds recorded here, Nepal is a birders' paradise. In the Kathmandu Valley alone, more than 500 species have been sighted. So in just a couple of weeks of intensive birding, it's possible to add 300 or 400 birds to your life's list.
In Search of Rhinos and Tigers and Wild Elephants: Royal Chitwan National Park is the most convenient place in Nepal to see wild Indian one-horned rhinoceroses; tigers are sometimes seen here as well. In Royal Bardia National Park you can see rhinos and tigers, and wild Asian elephants.
