Trekking Routes: Helambu

The Helambu trek, though not the easiest or most spectacular, is certainly the most accessible-the trailhead lies within the Kathmandu Valley. You can be on the trail within an hour of leaving your hotel in downtown Kathmandu. Perhaps because of its location, the trail is rarely used by trekkers. In addition, the existing trails are badly eroded, poorly maintained, and often difficult to follow. Hiring a guide is highly advisable if you plan to do this trek.
