Introduction: The Best Short Treks Frommer
Ghorapani-Ghandruk Loop: This 5- to 6-day trek takes in some of the best views in Nepal, includes a day of hiking through a beautiful rhododendron forest, and also passes through a few interesting villages, including the large and prosperous Gurung village of Ghandruk.

Jomosom to Muktinath and Back: If your time is short but you want to see some of the most interesting villages in Nepal, fly in and out of Jomosom and spend 4 or 5 days trekking the desert-dry upper reaches of the Kali Gandaki River valley. Here, in a landscape that's similar to Tibet's, are several villages of flat-roofed, stone-walled houses.

Lukla to Namche Bazaar and Back: If you are dead set on seeing Mount Everest from the ground and have only a few days to spare for a trek, you can realize your dream by flying in and out of Lukla and then hiking 2 days up to Namche Bazaar. From a hill above this large Sherpa village, there is an excellent view up the valley to Mount Everest.

The Jomosom Trek (abbreviated): If you have a week to spare and you're in good shape, you should be able to make the trek up to Jomosom and return by plane. Or you could fly into Jomosom and then walk out. Either way, you won't have time to dawdle, but you'll take in some great scenery and many interesting villages.
