Attractions: In Queens Frommer

In summer 2002, the Museum of Modern Art closed its main midtown Manhattan campus for a 3-year renovation project, opening an interim exhibit space in Long Island City called MoMA QNS. This 45,000-square-foot (4,181-sq.-m) exhibition space will showcase many of the finest works in the museum's permanent collection, making the quick and easy subway ride out to Queens more than worthwhile.

When you head out to MoMA QNS, consider making a day of it. Queens Artlink (www.moma.org/qal) is a free weekend arts shuttle, running Saturday and Sunday from 11:30am to 5:30pm and linking all of the institutions listed below (except for the Queens Museum of Art). You can also catch a weekend ride on the Long Island City Art Loop, a free shuttle bus service between the Noguchi Museum, the Socrates Sculpture Park, and P.S. 1 Saturday and Sunday between noon and 6pm. Any participating institution can answer further questions about either shuttle.
