Attractions: Especially for Kids Frommer

The Parque Metropolitano Zoo, Museum of Science and Technology, and Railway Museum described above all appeal to kids. Another place is Parque Bernardo O'Higgins, reached by taxi or Metro to Estación Parque O'Higgins. Kid-friendly attractions include Fantasilandia (tel. 2/689-3035); admission is $5.50 adults, $4 children. It's open April through November on Saturday, Sunday, and holidays only, from 11am to 8:30pm; December through March Tuesday through Friday from 2 to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 8pm. It's the largest amusement park in Chile, complete with a roller coaster, toboggan ride, and haunted house. The Museo de Insectos y Caracoles (tel. 2/556-5680) displays more than 1,500 mounted butterflies, beetles, and snails; admission is 25¢ adults, 10¢ children. It's open Monday through Sunday from 10am to 8pm.
