Wilmot Mountain
Wilmot has a 230-foot vertical drop with skiing/riding on 120 acres. There's a long run of 2,500 feet to keep you rolling, but despite being a bit small by even Midwestern standards, literally hundreds of thousands of Chicagoland skiers have learned to ski here in the last 60 years.
This year they are celebrating their 65th year of skiing making Wilmot Mountain one of the deans of Midwestern skiing. They still do a fantastic job catering to local skiers at night. Just follow the stream of taillights heading north out of Chicago with ski racks on a star-laden winter night, and most likely they will lead you to Wilmot Mountain.
