Guides & Advice > Traveler Advice > Been There Golfing in San Juan |
by Mona B., Account Manager
During our stay at the Westin Rio Mar Beach, my husband and I found the resort to have everything a vacation or business traveler would need. There were two 18-hole golf courses, clay surface tennis courts, along with a health spa, beauty salon, and massage treatment facility on the property. And, of course, there was a casino, lots of shopping, a swimming pool with a near by bar, and many great places to dine when we got hungry.
The two golf courses were in excellent condition. The river course, a 6945 yard par 72 was designed by Greg Norman. The Ocean course, a 6782 yard par 72 was designed by George and Tom Fazio, renown golf course designers. We were fortunate enough to play both courses. Our spacious hotel room offered an ocean view, with large balcony, where we enjoyed each morning's sunrise with a cup of coffee. We had all of the conveniences of home with a service bar, safety box, blow drier, iron and ironing board, and big screen satellite television. Luckily, I didn't have a need to use the connections offered for computers, as this was a vacation. For dinner each evening, we chose the buffet though there was a full menu restaurant on the property. Each buffet offered a large variety of dishes with a special theme, such as Italian, Seafood, and Mediterranean. The buffet was beautifully presented as well as delicious. We were always seated immediately, and the service was terrific.
After dinner each evening, it was time for a long and relaxing walk on the deserted beach; the sand cool on our feet. After our walk, we would make our way to the hotel lobby piano bar, where we would relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the moment. The casino was quite large and, as I recall, quite busy for the middle of the week. Unfortunately, my winnings were very slim, but then one has to spend money in order to win any money. I hope to visit the Westin Rio Mar Beach again, as it is unquestionably, one of the most beautiful and relaxing resorts in which I have ever stayed. From the moment we arrived, until the moment we had to leave, we were surrounded by a warm and friendly staff, who worked hard to make our stay an unforgettable experience. |
